Smoothie Addiction: OLLY protein powder

As a pseudo-vegetarian (I rarely eat meat) I’m always looking for ways to make sure I’m getting enough protein in my diet.  My morning smoothie is the perfect way to easily add this in so I was excited when OLLY reached out to me about trying their protein powder. I’m VERY picky about the taste of protein powders as they can easily ruin a smoothie so was a little nervous when adding this to my daily smoothie routine but I can announce– it’s delicious! The perfect touch of sweetness (real not artificial!). My current favorite is the Vanilla flavor but I’ve been eying the Cafe Mocha ; )  but they also have a variety of fun flavors including Pure Chocolate, Peachy Mango, Creamy Strawberry, Salted Caramel Chocolate and Chocolate Peanut Butter. (Check them out here!)

And as a bonus– it’s also vegan, gluten-free and also is natural sources of fiber, vitamins and omega-3’s.

I made this beauty using OLLY as my base and then adding almond milk (homemade!), a banana, handful of blueberries, lacinato kale, maca powder and topping with granola, more blueberries, chia seeds and almonds.  DELICIOUS.

Girl Secrets: HAIR Back2Blonde

As you probably know by now, I’m mildly obsessed with hair.  I’ve always dreamed of long Rapunzel-like blonde hair.  Unfortunately, long hair was not in my cards (my mother likes to remind me I was bald for the first 3 years of my life) but the blonde part of this equation can be.

To keep my thin hair healthy, I only highlighted it once a year and for the rest of the year I rock the ombre look (I want to kiss whoever made this trendy.)  In between those appointments, I often find myself wandering around Sephora trying to find a product to conceal my roots but could never find anything that worked.  I was excited when I was contacted by Back2Blonde to try their products as I’ve been trying to find a good root concealer and love sharing my #girlsecrets finds with you.

Initially, visions of 7th grade SunIn came into my head, but this product is NOTHING like that.  It’s a spray (which is the only similarity) and it washes out every time you use it.  Back2BLonde gave my hair a beautiful light blonde color that blended right into my highlights.Screen Shot 2016-08-31 at 1.58.01 PM.png

So even though I can’t have the long hair I always dreamed I can still be blonde anytime I want ; )

You can find Back2Blonde at CVS, Walgreens and Rite Aid stores ($12.99) and they are offering Chic & Sweaty readers a $4 coupon here.

** This was a paid post but as you chicas know I would only ever post a product that I think actually works and believe in

Speedo’s FIT program

I’m excited to announce that I will be partnering with Speedo FIT on their new full body water workouts.

The Olympics always motivates me to get into swimming again (Did you see Katie Ledecky crush it in the 400 m freestyle??).  Plus, I still have a lingering wrist injury from breaking my arm in the Spring and water workouts are nice and gentle on your body.

Less Gravity = Less Impact

Check out what Speedo FIT’s all about:

The program was developed in partnership with the elite training experts at EXOS and is supported by five of Team Speedo’s Olympic athletes including Ryan Lochte, Missy Franklin, Natalie Coughlin, Nathan Adrian, and Cullen Jones.

Healthy Snacking: Popcorn Addict

I’m a snacker. I always have been and I always will be.

I tried to stop for a while and then I realized that was probably never going to happen so it was a better idea to set myself up to snack well.

Popcorn is one of my “go-to” snacking items so I was excited when the folks at JOLLY TIME Pop Corn started the Healthy Pop Challenge to encourage people (like me!) to make healthier choices when they snack.

What I love about them is that they have been around for over 100 years and are still a family run company.  Rare in this day and age! They also sell tons of flavors including Blast O Butter, X-tra Butter, and Crispy ‘n White (plain) and more intricate flavors like Jalapeño Butter, Mallow Magic, Healthy Caramel Apple, and Kettle Mania.

Not to mention Healthy Pop is a fiber-filled, low-calorie popcorn so I can feel good about what I’m snacking on!

I personally like to start with “basic” popcorn flavor and jazz it up  with fun ingredients!  Here’s one of my favorite recipes for myself or when I entertain:

CITY SEAT Bike Covers

As you all know, I’m an avid CitiBiker (and have been since the beginning– Did you catch this NYTimes article I was featured in??). I bike all seasons in everything from wedges to dresses (all safe of course) but sometimes I find myself wondering how clean the seat I’m riding on is.  Yes, this germaphobe even asked her gynecologist if you could get a STD from a bike (the answer was “Maybe, but rare.”)

So I was excited when CitySeat reached out to me.

Not only are these toppers good for Citbikes but I also realized they worked well on spin bikes (I was always the chick that stayed away from these classes as I never found the seats comfortable.)  CitySeats are washable, foldable and reusable (they fit both the new and old Citbikes seats!)
